I have some good news for you: God’s goal is not to make sure you’re happy. No matter how hard it is for you to believe this, it’s time to do so.

Over the course of my lifetime, I have witnessed numerous changes in the broader culture. Unfortunately, not all have been for good. If Christians hope to make an impact in this world, it’s imperative that we first understand it.

At Insight for Living, June 30 represents an annual milestone. It’s the date our accountants have designated to close the financial books and report our position to the board of directors. 

Not long ago we received a touching letter from Tammy who said, “Chuck, lately I’ve been spiritually dry. In fact, desert dry. Your messages were exactly what I needed to hear. And I’ve been inspired to persevere...no matter what.” 

You can make a difference. And because you can...you must. Count on the Lord to honour and multiply your best efforts, even though they may seem small. Last time I checked, He was still rewarding faithfulness.

The Bible is full of men and women who dreamed dreams and saw visions. But they didn't stop there. They had faith, they were people who saw the impossible, and yet their feet were planted on planet earth.

With the confidence and deliberateness of a veteran returning to the heat of battle, the seasoned warrior tightened the belt on his toga and took charge. He covered every base necessary for quality communication. 

Choose some psalms to include in your personal reading time this summer. To help make them stick, don’t try to digest too great a meal in one sitting. Consider these songs as rich food to be savoured slowly. 

True wisdom requires us to read God’s Word with the goal of practical application, not merely intellectual stimulation.
